My new cancer drug, as of earlier this month, is Arimidex (generic: anastrozole). It comes in pill form, and I take one pill a day (Note to self: check dose) plus Herceptin by IV once every three weeks.
The previous drug we tried, Tamoxifen, caused severe neuropathy, so I went off that within a week, after much discussion amongst my various oncologists and researchers. Neuropathy, in case you are not familiar with it, is numbness and tingling in the fingers and toes.
Both my feet went entirely numb, so that was not good.
I received all the handouts on Arimidex, and will be posting more information on the drug and the combination with Herceptin as soon as I have secured a roof over my head. Until then, please feel free to leave any comments below about your own experience with any of these drugs: Arimidex, Tamoxifen, or Herceptin.
Remember, this is where the drugs are used to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Thanks.
